About the trainer

I have an extensive medical background having worked in a hospital emergency room for 9 years and worked as an Advanced EMT for 15 years on an ambulance.

So, how did I get started in the dog training business, you may ask? Well, my husband and I went to the shelter and rescued this beautiful white boxer we named Seamus. Seamus was about 7 months old. At the time, we already had two older dogs in our home and trying to introduce a new and very rambunctious dog to them was a nightmare! Seamus was so full of energy, it made it very difficult for the other dogs to adjust. There was also the issue with him biting everything and everyone, it wasn’t fun. I tried to train Seamus, but he was so overwhelming.

In 2009 I started working with a local trainer and enrolled in Penn Forster College for a 12 month training course. Then the fun began with a 15 month intensive hands-on training course with a local Dog Training school. I was trained on handling aggressive dogs, fear aggression dogs, protection dogs, bed bug dogs, and so much more. I must say, out of all of the training, puppy class is my favorite!

I am a firm believer that everyday there is something new to be learned. So I am constantly going to seminars and trainings to learn new or updated tricks of the trade, in order to ensure that each of the dogs (and owners) that I work with are getting the very best!

I am a certified dog obedience trainer, with additional certifications in animal care for dogs, as well as CPR and First Aid for pets Instructor. I am also a Registered AKC Canine Good Citizens evaluator and AKC S.T.A.R evaluator.

We loved adopting and training Seamus so much, we went to the shelter and adopted…Lady Gaga our pit bull and Our newest addition Gracie Gargoyle a beautiful Cane Carso Mastiff!

My name is Ilana Shimmel. My love for animals started at a young age. I began riding horses at the age of 8. 16 years later I still ride as often as I can. A few years ago I met Lauren while she was working with veterans and their service dogs at my barn one evening. I joined the class with our farm dog so he could get some training, and the rest of history.

I spent time each week training the farm dog until he graduated as an honorary member. After that I got a puppy that was a wild child so it was a no-brainer to put some training into him with Lauren. By the time he was a year old, we both learned so much and I was hooked on training. I wanted to know as much as possible. I ended up going through The Lord of Barks Training Academy. In the Academy I had a troubled dog that I trained and by the end she was ready for her new home.

After the Academy I fostered another troubled dog and found her a loving home after putting some training into her. By then I was only working a part time job so I spent many hours learning and teaching alongside Lauren in my free time. Finally I quit my job and now I work full time at Pet Peeves Dog Training. I love what I do and I can't wait to learn more everyday

Hello, My name is Tina and I have been working on and off with my Aunt Lauren for 11 years. I started with her in Long Island, NY just helping with some of the paper work and setting up equipment. I became so interested in how the mentally of a dog works and reading their body langue I started asking to go along to her private clients. I moved away from Long Island and started a family working retail jobs until I saw an ad for a job working with a company that installs electric fences and needed someone to teach dogs how to use the fence in a positive way, that came to me like second nature but as it turns out, I’m not a very good sales person. After my Second child was born we to move to Florida to be closer to family and asked to spend some time with my Aunt relearning new methods just to get out of the house from time to time needless to say I couldn’t stay away for long. After months of relearning and all these years later I am now a Trainer for Pet Peeves Dog Training.

It was an honor and a privilege learning from you. I will continue training the service dogs the way you Taught us and you will never ever be forgotten in loving memory Nelson Morales.
